At Whitmore Printing, we're committed to protecting the environment and preserving the Earth's natural resources. We not only recognize, but also embrace the industry-wide responsibilities that come with running a commercial printing operation. These include sustaining forests, minimizing chemical usage, reducing paper waste, eliminating toxic chemicals and promoting recycling efforts.

As such, Whitmore Printing has drawn up a list of goals, as well as an action plan of solutions to further our mission of stewardship. These include:

GOALS:

• Reduce production of make-ready (the number of sheets of paper needed for setup) by 25%


• Reduce office paper usage by 50%


• Eliminate use of toxic chemicals in the production process


• Increase use of environmentally friendly inks


• Increase efficiency and improve scheduling for delivery vehicles

SOLUTIONS:

• Offer FSC Certified papers


• Use Bio-friendly ink


• Work towards integrating a chemical-free plant


• Utilize digital printing on demand which


• Reduces inventory


• Eliminates leftovers


• Minimize mass mailings by implementing targeted Variable Data Printing applications


• Substitute technology such as PURL's and re-useable, eco-friendly envelopes as alternatives to standardized reply envelopes
